Kochut Jewellery House: Ukraine's first collection of mokume-gane jewellery «The Bloom of Time»
Ukrainian jewellery brand Kochut presents its first mokume-gane jewellery collection «The Bloom of Time»
The landmark event took place on 26 September in the capital's showroom at 6A Tarasovskaya Street. This is the first jewellery collection in Ukraine made using the unique Japanese Mokume Gane technique. The invited guests had the opportunity to learn about the philosophy of the collection, the details of the Mokume Gane technique and to meet the founders of the brand - the Kochut brothers.
What is mokume-gane?
Mokume-gane is a traditional Japanese metalworking technique that allows you to create products with a unique pattern that resembles the texture of wood. The process is lengthy and requires great skill and dedication from the craftsman, as each stage is performed manually.
The philosophy of the «The Bloom of Time» collection
The main idea of the collection is based on the Japanese tradition of admiring. This is not only an aesthetic tradition, but also a deep philosophy that teaches us to appreciate the beauty of the moment. In Japan, admiring is the concept of perceiving the world, nature, the whole essence of existence through the contemplation of beauty. Their calendar consists of a series of flower festivals, according to the month in which these flowers bloom. It is followed by a period of admiring the colours of autumn trees, and in winter, admiring the snow. The Contemplation Festival is a reminder that everything in this world is temporary and fleeting. A reminder that time is the most valuable of currencies.
We dared to combine the most intimate Japanese tradition with the ancient technique of mokume gane in jewellery. We have captured time in jewellery art to save it for later, to feel time by touch. Our main desire is to bring Japanese tranquillity to the stormy Ukrainian everyday life.
Each piece is a unique work of art that reflects the individual approach of the craftsmen to working with metal. The flagship model of the collection is the one-piece Enso bracelet. The collection also includes earrings, a diamond engagement ring, 2 types of wedding rings and a men's ring. Each model is presented in both warm and cool colours. The warm range is formed by a combination of red and yellow gold with oxidised silver, and the cold range is formed by a combination of palladium gold and etched silver.
The brand's first offline event
This presentation is an important step in the development of Ukrainian jewellery art. The introduction of the mokume-gane technique demonstrates our commitment to innovation and ability to master complex techniques. The event also highlights the growing interest in unique, distinctive jewellery among Ukrainian consumers, who increasingly value individuality and high quality products.
